PRIVACY POLICY
You are trusting us with information about your own health, which is not a small thing. This page sets out exactly what we hold, who sees it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Last updated 5 August 2026
Your name, your email, and whatever you choose to tell us about your gums. Your card details never reach us.
Not to suppliers, not to advertisers, not to anyone. Health information is treated as sensitive and stays between us.
Email us to see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted. We reply within 30 days and there is no charge.
My Gum Coach is responsible for the personal information collected through this website and through our courses. We are based in Australia and we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
If you want to reach us about anything in this policy, email [email protected]. A person reads that inbox.
We collect only what we need in order to enrol you, teach you, and answer your questions. In practice that is a short list:
Your name and email address, when you enrol or email us.
Your payment record, which we see as a confirmation from Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
Anything you choose to tell us about your own oral health, whether by email or during a live session.
Basic, aggregated website statistics such as page views and visitor counts. These are not used to identify you.
Information about your gum health, dental history or general health is sensitive information under Australian privacy law, and it attracts a higher standard of protection than an email address does.
We collect it only when you volunteer it, and only so that we can teach you well. We do not disclose it to anyone outside our program, we do not use it for marketing, and we never share it with product suppliers, insurers or employers.
You are never obliged to disclose anything about your health in order to take part. You are welcome to attend, listen, and share nothing at all.
We use your information to enrol you, to send you your access details and session links, to teach the program, to answer your questions, and to keep the records we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes.
We may email you about the program you purchased and about future cohorts. Every such email includes a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing does not affect your enrolment.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade or otherwise make it available to third parties for their own marketing.
Running an online course means using a small number of third party services. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy which governs its handling of your information:
Stripe, which processes payments. Stripe receives your payment details directly. We see only a confirmation and your name and email.
Google Workspace, which hosts our email.
Zoom, which hosts the live sessions.
Our online learning platform, which hosts the course materials and session recordings and holds your login.
Our email platform, which sends your welcome message and course announcements.
Our website host, which serves this site and provides aggregated visitor statistics.
Several of the services listed above are based overseas, principally in the United States, which means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia. We choose established providers that publish their own privacy commitments, but we cannot control the laws of every country in which they operate.
By enrolling, you consent to your information being handled in this way. If that is a concern for you, email us before you enrol and we will tell you what is involved.
We are a small Australian program and we are governed by Australian privacy law. Participants are welcome from anywhere, and we are glad to have them, but we want to be straightforward about what that means rather than claim more than we can deliver.
Your information is handled under this policy and the Australian Privacy Act, wherever you live. Australian privacy law and the privacy laws of other countries, including the European Union and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulations, share most of the same protections: we tell you what we collect, we ask before we collect sensitive health information, we keep it only as long as we need it, and you can ask to see it, correct it or have it deleted at any time. Those rights are set out below and we extend them to every participant regardless of where you are.
Where the laws differ, we do not pretend to have built the formal compliance apparatus that a large international company would have, such as an appointed representative in the European Union or the United Kingdom. If you are in the EU or the UK and you want to understand how we handle your information before you enrol, email us and we will answer honestly and in detail. If our answer does not satisfy you, we would rather you did not enrol than enrol on a misunderstanding.
Sessions are live, and other participants discuss their own health. Please do not record, screenshot or share session content, or anything another participant discloses. We ask this of everyone, and we ask it of ourselves.
We record each live session ourselves and make the recording available to the people enrolled in that cohort through a private online learning portal, so you can catch up if you miss one and rewatch it later. Access requires your own login, which is personal to you. Recordings stay within the cohort. We do not publish them, we do not use them in advertising, and we may edit or omit part of a recording to protect someone's privacy.
If you would prefer not to appear in a recording, that is entirely reasonable. Keep your camera off, and send your questions to us privately instead of asking them on the call. Tell us and we will make sure it is not awkward.

Our Facebook group is hosted by Facebook, not by us, and anything you post there is governed by Facebook's own terms and privacy policy as well as this one. Other members can see what you post.
Please use your judgement about what you share in a group setting. If you would rather ask something privately, email us instead.
We keep enrolment and correspondence records for as long as you are a participant, and afterwards for as long as we are required to for tax and accounting purposes, which in Australia is generally five years.
Beyond that, we do not keep information we no longer need. If you ask us to delete something and we are not required to keep it, we will.
We use reputable providers, restrict access to the two of us, and do not keep your information in places it does not need to be. Payment details never reach us at all, which is the single most effective protection we can offer.
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, and we will tell you. You may ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You may ask us to delete it, and we will unless we are legally required to keep it. You may unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner. We will not charge you for asking.

This site uses a small amount of aggregated analytics so we can see how many people visit and which pages they read. It does not identify you individually, and we do not use advertising trackers or sell audience data.
Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies. Doing so will not stop you using this site.

This program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a young person needs help with their gum health, please involve a parent or guardian and see a dental practitioner.

If we change this policy we will update the date below. Where a change is significant and affects current participants, we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email [email protected] first and give us the chance to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
You do not need a reason and there is no form to fill in. Email us and
ask, and we will tell you plainly, [email protected].
My Gum Coach is an educational program based in Australia. This policy is governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Nothing in it excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have under a law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
